Flying it onto the ground

I have landed in some gusty wind where I literally had to fly the plane onto the ground. Flying the plane onto the ground has a new meaning this morning. Landing the U-2 appears to be very much like flying it onto the ground and then some. I would think you have to fly it onto the ground and keep flying it until you stop and have support crew around the help out. Wow.

The U-2 Dragon Lady is the most difficult plane to land in the world. The two-week-long pilot interview involves three flights. All interview landings are videotaped

  2. I assume it was a joke due to the bad landings by the pilot.
